Improve your photography

Come and spend the day on one of our courses in the studio and garden at the Old Mill. We currently run 3 different courses aimed at beginners and improvers and all are limited to a maximum of 5 people. The day is split between classroom sessions in the studio and practical sessions in the riverside garden. We also offer individual tuition sessions.

Introduction to Photography

An introductory course for beginners. We’ll go over all the aspects of how a camera works, and look at key elements of photography such as composition, depth of field and lighting. A great way to start to improve your photography.

Photography for Improvers

Our Improvers Photography course is aimed at those who already have a grasp of the basics of photography. As well as recapping on the fundamentals, we’ll spend time looking at how to have greater control of your photography, and to work more towards creating images rather than just taking pictures.

Introduction to flash

This course is aimed at those who would like to take their photography a step further and start to gain more control by using flash and reflectors to add light. We’ll look at the basics of studio photography as well as using flash outdoors to fill shadows and add highlights.

Individual tuition

We offer 3 hour individual photography tuition sessions which can be fitted to your requirements – you may like to learn the basics, brush up on your technique, learn some new skills, or have a consultancy session on setting up your own photography business. The time is yours, and we’re completely flexible – you can purchase an individual session via a voucher and get in touch to let us know which area you would like to focus on.
